In the course of any painting, I always have some artifacts leftover. Various pieces of cardboard, scrap wood, or paper used to catch paint overspray, mixing or reducing a paintbrush load, palette knife dabbing, etc. These 'painting aids' can sometimes look interesting onto themselves so I'll usually take a snapshot of 'em for posterity's sake. You start worrying though, when 'these leftovers' start looking more interesting than the 'contrived work' they're supporting. Ouch!
